Project Description

TOWNLAND was commissioned by PT. Bali Turtle Island Development to provide advisory services and regulatory planning in applying for Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status for the Kura-Kura Bali, a World class Integrated Tourism Hub located on Serangan Island, some 30 minutes from the Denpasar City Centre. The Project was successfully awarded the much-coveted Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status under a Government Regulation signed by the Honorable President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo on 5 April 2023.

Kura-Kura Bali acted as one of the G20 event locations in November 2022 and comprises of a Mixed Use & Integrated Resort along with a Marina at the core of the Development. The Project is envisioned to become a sustainable ecosystem which capitalises on new growth opportunities in education, technology and health tourism in Bali, which is targeting Rp104 trillion investment with around 35,000 direct jobs and 64,000 indirect jobs over the next 30 years in the sectors of tourism and creative industries. The first phase of this +498 ha Development is expected to be completed by early 2028.

This mixed-use and Integrated Resort features a host of World-class amenities including six star hotels, a commercial centre, incorporating Balinese local wisdom and cluture, an International school and a range of luxurious residential options. TOWNLAND provided advisory services on the crucial elements of the local regulations and the industry landscape and assisted in navigating the application process. With is coveted SEZ status, the Kura-Kura Bali is poised to contribute significantly to Bali’s economy while promoting sustainable development and preserving Balinese culture and traditions.
