Project Description

TOWNLAND was commissioned to prepare Conceptual and Schematic Landscape Design and Landscape Design Detailed Drawings and to undertake Periodic Site Inspections and Reporting and Design Coordination during the Landscape Construction Period on the SMI Tower and Convention Centre located in BSD City in Tangerang, Banten. The Project was awarded as the Best Office Architectural Design 2021 by PropertyGuru Indonesia and comprises an iconic office building which features a sustainable working environment with numerous refreshing experiences to enhance productivity, stimulate creativity and reduce stress.

The main concept is derived from the principle of Biophilic Design, which aims to integrate elements of nature into the landscape, introducing seamless interconnectivity between indoor and outdoor spaces. The design is further inspired by the shape and movement of the elements found in a rainforest, which adopts biodiversity using local and indigenous plants across multi-layered landscape areas to support the creation of a comfortable micro climate, so that the air quality and overall building environment are improved. Water elements act as the oasis in the building compound and as an invigorating feature to recreate mini-ecosystems underneath the tree canopy. Organic lines seamlessly flow to connect the spaces, representing the dynamic energy of the wind. This greenery allows the building to have ‘Breathing Spaces’, which produces fresh air for the adjacent compact urban spaces.

A Rainforest is incorporated within the inner court on the Ground Floor and is integrated with an outdoor café and an elevated seating area. The design is completed with various features, such as amphitheater, koi pond and paludarium. A Terrace on the Fourth Floor acts as the extension of the ballroom whilst a Floating Woodpark povides an open space on the roof level featuring a swimming pool, banquet area and multi-purpose lawn.
