Project Description

This Revitalization Project is located within a 120 ha area in Taman Impian Jaya Ancol (Ancol Dreamland) along the northern portion of Jakarta`s Waterfront Area.  This area is currently the largest recreation park in South East Asia, owned by the Government of Jakarta. The main objective of the Project is to revitalize streetscape corridors through the incorporation of diverse thematic zones which promote pedestrian connectivity and provide a place to facilitate various public events for all communities.

The general concept is “A New Tale of Imagination”, where nature meets with society and forms a collaboration between culture and technology to become a one stop destination for water experiences, leisure and recreation. Pedestrian linkages are designed such that visitors can walk in a safe and comfortable environment, and also experience various thematic spots. Seating areas are provided as well as diverse food and beverage stalls and bicycle lanes to support better mobility for the Public.

The Site is divided into 5 thematic zones comprising of imagination: 1) The Magical Tale – an energetic and adventurous zone; 2) The Botanical Tale –  a nature preservation zone comprosing the existing Eco-Park; 3) The Cultural Tale – a special zone that promotes the refurbishment of the existing legendary Art Market (Pasar Seni) inside Ancol Dreamland; 4) The Ocean Tale – a water-play zone; and 5) The Coastal Tale –  a resort and leisure zone along the beachfront. All thematic zones are connected and integrated into the pedestrian corridors, lined with iconic street furniture and shaded by various tropical seaside plants.
