Project Description

TOWNLAND in association with Jones Lang Lasalle (Lead Consultant) and Tata Consulting Engineers prepared Smart City Proposals for six Indian Cities (Chennai and Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu) , Vadodara (Gujarat), Amritsar (Punjab), and Aligarh and Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh), to qualify for the Smart City Grant from the Central and State Government.

For each of the Cities, a ‘Pan-City’ Smart Urban Development Vision and Smart Initiatives is proposed and one Inner City Site is identified for ‘Area Based Development’. These Areas will be retrofitted with the latest innovations in Smart City Technology and redeveloped according to the latest Sustainable Development Strategies. When found successful, these Smart Projects will then be rolled out throughout the entire City.

TOWNLAND has proposed for each of the Area Based Proposals extensive Pedestrianisation, Retrofitting of Public Parks, separate Bicycle Lanes along major Roads, Bicycle Sharing and an overall Transit Oriented Development (TOD). The ultimate goal is to make people less dependent on private vehicles and create a more sustainable, greener and more attractive public environment.
