Qianhai Rising | April 2019
A few weeks ago, a group of TOWNLAND’s Shenzhen Colleagues visited the Qianhai Shenzhen – Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone (Qianhai New District) to see firsthand the impressive development progress that’s occurred since we first started work on this Project more than 7 years ago (and to which we just recently added the finishing touches).
From what was once a muddy patch of reclamation infill, there is now an emerging international mixed-use business hub. Roads have been paved, trees have been planted, infrastructure has been installed, and now the buildings are rising.
TOWNLAND, in association with the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) Urban Planning & Design Institute was responsible for preparation of the Master Plan for more than 85 hectares of the Qianhai New District, including Unit 3 (29.6 ha) and Unit 4 (55.7 ha). TOWNLAND prepared a comprehensive Master Plan, a Detailed Urban Design Scheme and Urban Design Guidelines for the Project.
The Project is a priority development of the Government and is envisioned as one of the great business districts of the World. Under the recently-released Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area) Plan, the strategic position of the Qianhai New District has been enhanced even further as a centrally-located key Gateway for cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong and the wider Greater Bay Area.
We look forward to future site visits and will update you on the development progress again as Units 3 and 4 continue to take shape, more buildings are completed, and more businesses and people move in. We are particularly excited about seeing the multi-layered pedestrian-focused network take shape that will interlink many of the individual buildings into a seamless commercial district.
Stay tuned!
