We are delighted to accept the Grand Award in the Planning Category on behalf of the University of Chicago at the recent Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors Best Development and Conservation Awards 2021, for the Hong Kong Jockey Club University of Chicago Academic Complex │The University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong. This pioneering Award celebrates the theme of “Surveying Excellence in Development and Conservation” and recognises the exceptional achievements of construction projects related to both development and conservation.
We are immensely proud of this innovative and technically challenging Project which has transformed the historically significant Ex-Victoria Road Detention Centre in Mount Davis into a World Class University Campus and heritage interpretation centre for the wider community.
We thank the University of Chicago for their strong Vision, Leadership and Commitment throughout a highly collaborative project approach with the Team. The overarching Planning Vision, as a synthesis of the academic vision, architectural/conservation vision and the public/community benefit vision, has achieved:
- A world class university campus featuring a highly functional educational environment that fulfills the academic mission;
- A modern campus with iconic architecture that appropriately showcases the heritage assets of the Site; and
- A new community destination and a Heritage Interpretation Centre, freely open to the public.
Many thanks to the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and to the Jury Panel for recognizing the efforts of our Client and Team with this Award.
