Mr. Lau is a Chartered Town Planner who received academic training in both Canada and Hong Kong, where he obtained a Master of Science in Urban Planning. Since joining TOWNLAND in 2011, he has over ten years professional experience in Hong Kong and has been actively engaged in a wide spectrum of Planning and Development Projects for Governments, Agencies and the Private Sector, and has been involved in areas of Project Management, Development Consultancy, Strategic Planning Studies and Feasibility Studies, Master and Site Planning and Urban Design.

Mr. Lau has in-depth knowledge of Hong Kong’s Statutory Planning system and procedures, and relevant standards and guidelines, and has been responsible for preparation and coordination of numerous Planning Applications including Section 12A/ Rezoning Requests, Section 16 Applications, Section 16(A)2 (Class B) Amendments, Statutory Objections/Representations, Section 17 Reviews and Planning Appeals as well as Visual Impact Assessments, Urban Design Proposals, Discharge of Conditions to Approved Developments and Feasibility Studies and the like for Agencies and the Private Sector in Hong Kong, covering an extensive range of developments and land uses in the urban area, new towns and rural districts. He is well versed at providing advice on development potential, planning options and strategies; liaising with Clients, Government Departments, and Stakeholders; and in leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams of specialist consultants to achieve Planning Approval/Client’s objectives.

As Associate Director at TOWNLAND, Mr. Lau contributes to Corporate Management as part of TOWNLAND’s Hong Kong operations and leads the Development Consultancy Team on various Planning Projects in Hong Kong while also providing support to TOWNLAND’s Regional Team on Urban Design and Master Planning Projects in Indonesia, Mainland China and elsewhere in the Region.
