Shenzhen Metro Planning Phase II is an extension to the existing Phase I railway system in Shenzhen. This was a joint venture project between TCL and the Urban Design and Planning Institute of Shenzhen (UDPIS) which commenced in end 2001. TCL as the planning coordinator for the team, was mainly responsible for providing the following inputs:

The extended railway system will have a significant effect on the dispersion or concentration of population and economic activities. It will help to disperse activities out of the congested urban cores, especially in Futian and Louhu Districts. In addition, it will contribute to the emergence of new activity nodes, including Baoan District Centre, Shekou Reclamation and Longhua New Town.

The extension of the Shenzhen Metro Railway (Phase II) will be implemented principally as a heavy rail network.

TCL has received a NATIONAL AWARD together with the Urban Planning and Design Institute of Shenzhen for this Project in the Shenzhen Planning Awards of the Shenzhen Lands Bureau.
