An urban design project for a linear riverfront site with a length of 5.2km for the Construction Bureau of Sha Ping Ba District Government. The distinctive topographic character, the fluctuating water level and the constraints of the freeway and drainage pipe elevated in front of the Site have been considered and addressed in the design. Various land uses including heritage conservation, recreation, research and development and residential uses have been comprehensively integrated in the Master Plan. The target is to create an upscale high-tech hub to attract international investors as a focal point in the 21st Century.

The Master Plan has addressed the heritage value of the neighbouring sites and the need to provide R&D buildings and SOHO type residential developments which are popular in many developed countries. In order to fully utilise the valuable land fronting Jialing River, recreational facilities, X-game venues and aviary are also provided in areas less suitable for heavy structures. A landscape promenade with sitting-out facilities is proposed to link all the developments along the riverfront, providing a safe and pleasant pedestrian environment. A financial analysis has also been carried out to support the feasibility of the proposed land uses.
