Townland was the Master Planner/Urban Designer for the preparation of a conceptual design and layout plan for a New Town development on a 200 hectare site in Purwakarta which is located about 100 km southeast of Jakarta. A phased development is proposed with phase1 being predominantly residential covering about 20 hectares of the Site. A university campus and business park is proposed for the later stages of development. Extensive green space is incorporated into the proposed residential development. The design further ensures adequate provision of community and recreational facilities which are appropriately distributed to meet the needs of the residents.

The design concept emphasizes a strong cultural theme and achieves a pedestrian friendly environment with good vehicular accessibility. Luxury houses along the main road reflect Javanese style housing & tree planting. Palm trees and medium canopy trees combined with low level shrubs are used to separate public and private area.

The Javanese style mosque serves as the entrance landmark. Behind the mosque are shophouses arranged in a U - shape with a courtyard in the centre. the courtyard is a public recreational area which could be used as a fair ground or temporary market on weekends.
