The
design theme for the proposal has been to create a variation of innovative
residential sub-districts that will be the catalyst for further residential
development within the Chengdu City Dachuan Lifestyle District. It is
imagined that the town centre and residential district will be the focal
point and central hub of commercial, entertainment and residential activities
throughout the Dachuan Lifestyle District. It is considered that the
mixed use and residential uses will be compatible to future adjoining
uses outside of the site by being sustainable and by supporting its
future residential population, both socially and economically.
The urban design of the master layout plan has taken on the concept
of a flower. This is evident in the overall structure or formation of
the plan with a central core (town centre) acting as the middle of the
flower (or stamen) while the surrounding residential districts takes
on the flower’s petals (North-West District, North-East District,
South-East District and South-West District) and the flower’s
leaves (Garden District, Water Canal District and the Avenue District).
The stem of the flower in the master layout plan is signified by the
major transportation corridor and major road that lies between the railway
station in the western border of the site and central core.
The uses of the master layout plan include a central core that integrates
high-class residential living with mixed-use developments such as retail,
commercial and entertainment/recreational facilities. The surrounding
districts mainly consist of modern residential multi-storey apartments
that are linked by a canal and open space system. The overall structure
of the master layout plan as a flower symbolises the potential for the
Dachuan Lifestyle District to grow into an attractive residential area
full of life and beauty.
